proper method is to use a nosing....

as it is at the top of the stairs ideally a nosing with a non slip insert!

you will be shocked at the price and wont like the fact that they are aluminium...(you also need to do a template for a pucker exact fitting size and include the profile)

the nosing will trap your carpet and run over the lip of the landing sitting on top of the laminate

Yes you can get them to match the wood/laminate (well a reasonable match)

Ideally ask where you got the laminate from the manufacturer may well do an exact match

you will be looking at somewhere between 20 and 50 notes dependant on choice

Nosing is the way, you can find MDF and Solid wood nosings, ideally best to purchase the nosing before laying the final plank of laminate or wood.

You may be restricted on colour selections but they are definetly out there.

Thank you for replies after talking to a local independent carpet shop owner he visited and he advised me it can be done but he gave me such a good (cash) quote to carpet the complete area,i could not resist. all done now and very happy with the job.

Ps I have laminated 2 rooms with selco 12mm groved laminate wiyh techno underlay and very happy with them but carpet is more comfortable under foot.yes we are old people.
