Galaxy Flex 20

Jay
the information you have been given is WRONG!

the Flex 20 can be used as a fully wired system or a combination of wired and wireless via an RF portal!

i know this because we only fit Galaxy panels!!

if you need any advice, contact me and will advise you of what to do and what not to do!

The rf portal is built in right or do i need to purchase a seperate board.
Where are you based? ... can you come and install it for me coz if rather leave it with the professionals since u only deal with galaxy systems.

Thanks

did you just buy the flex 20 and remote keypad,
or did you buy it as a kit?

as if you bought it as a flex 20 rf kit, you would have got three radio pir sensors, one radio door contact, a remote keypad and an rf portal.

if you have not got an rf portal, you cannot put rf devices on it, the rf portal is a co79

yes we can come and fit it, and yep we can supply the portal, pir sensors and door contacts, my conatct details are on my profile.

Hi Jay,

I haven't yet added any wireless sensors, though I do plan to in the next few weeks. I've already fitted the wireless module, just need to order a couple of wireless PIRs to test. According to the manual it should support both wired and wireless sensors and the configuration I've put in place suggests it should work also. It's possible there is a bug in the system that prevents both being used at the same time, but until I test I can't confirm either way.

Installing wireless sensors should be easier than wired sensors. This is the process:

1. On the keypad type 52 ent 2 enter while in engineering mode.

2. Move to a spare zone, and then press enter.

3. Hit 11 enter 1 enter.

4. Press * to enter "Self-Learn" mode.

5. Insert battery in the sensor and activate the tamper switch. The serial number of the detector is recorded and displayed for 2 seconds.

I hadn't seen there was a page two to this thread so hadn't seen the reply from oasistechnical when I posted. Glad to hear the system works fine in hybrid mode!

Hi Guys,

I have a spent the day going through different forums online and understood how the wiring works. However, i cannot understand where the tamper wires go.

this is what i have done so far with a door sensor:
1. Connected an Alarm connection (Sensor) to port 1 of the central panel
2. Connected the other Alarm connection (sensor) to 0v/-V port on the central panel
3. Connected one end of the tamper connection (sensor) to 0v/-V port on the central panel
4. i do not understand where my 2nd tamper connections go on the central panel?

another thing i'm having an issue is i can no longer access the engineering mode on my keypad. the following message comes up when i enter the default code (112233) 'Insufficient Access Rights'. I can Access the via the default user code '1234' but this has limited access.

Hi Jay,

As oasistechnical has implied, you don't need a separate tamper connection. The system is known as FSL or double balanced which means that the control panel can work out whether the sensor is open, closed or being tampered with by measuring it's resistance value. So, if you wire up as I mentioned before the control panel will measure the resistance between the zone and 0v terminals. You do need to make sure the zone has been configured with the right settings for the resistance (all the available options are mentioned in the manual).

It sounds like you need to re-enable engineering mode again. Once you exit out of it you have to re-enable before you can get back in again if I remember correctly.

Regards

Yay got it working.
One question ... does the gsm module only give out sms messages.
Does it not call you or can you not call it to arm and disarm?

Thanks

Hiya peeps,

can the galaxy flex 50 make calls to my mobile with pstn connection?

Apparently its only for the call centres ... is that correct?

Thanks

That's right. The Galaxy Flex PSTN needs a handshake, so will give a COM error if you enter your mobile number. You need either a GSM module or Ethernet module to get the SIA 3 messages sent to your phone.

GSM costs £260, Ethernet £200 (although you can pick up Ethernet for £80).

but I have got the GSM Module installed but it only gives out text messages.
I don't really pay attention to text messages ... I want it to call me.

How do I go abouts doing that?

Thanks
