Negative or positive head pump

I know this subject has probably been flogged to death, i have a combination tank (cws on top of hot tank), that is situated about 2.5 metres from the shower head, i just want to improve the hot water pressure, sould i fit a single negative or positive head pump, thanks. Bruce

I don't think it's advisable to fit a pump to a combination cylinder. There's not enough cold capacity for more than a quick hand wash using a pump.

Negative if above, positive (or negative) if below (or marginal).

Connecting to those cyinders can be problematic. Ideally make a holeinthe side and fit an Essex flange. Then it needs a fast flow into the top tank if the volume's small.
 
Assuming the shower is a mixer of some sort, and the cold is off the rising mains use a negative head pump.

As per twgas, storage is a big issue (or in a combination cylinder a little issue) as there is not realy enough there to pump in the first place.

Combination Fortic type cylinders shouldn't be pumped from because they usually only have around 7gal usable cold water and cant have a starvation kit attached.

Usually, we would warranty a pump on a combination cylinder.
