I am about to paint over our bedroom wall paper, but there is a paper boarder around the room at about 3ft height. I am concerned that the edges of the border will show through the paint. Does anyone have any tips as to how I can minimise the appearance of the border through the paint? My thoughts are 1) to paint over the boarder edges a number of times before painting the rest of the walls 2) Get some extra thick paint!

Any advice appreciated

remove border, if youdon't sooner or latter it will show through

Isn't removing the border likely to damage the paper underneath and leave a residue of paste to which the paint may not take? I could end up having to strip the whole room and then hang lining paper - something I want to avoid as it will quadruple the time taken to decorate the room.

You may be able to get it off without damaging the paper underneath by steaming. Wickes do one for about £20 to £25.

The room will be there for a long time, do it properly and take your time, you will be pleased afterwards.
