Heating is "At Risk"

Regardless of what Andy would do, the regulations do specify what size they should be and so the engineer is correct to point out if not adequate size.

When you deal with a "National Company" you should expect them to deal according to the book!

Shouldn't the "you have refused to allow it to be made safe, a WARNING LABEL has been attatched" box have been ticked if my parents had refused to let him turn the boiler off and a warning label be attached in every case?

I certainly wouldn't be allowed to put descriptions as vague as is on this paperwork when I'm carrying out electrical inspections.

Something just doesn't add up to me, and I'd had to think they are trying to scaremonger my parents into a boiler replacement they do not need.

Whilst it's not as efficient as a modern boiler, the PCB has never blown, the flue fan has never ceased, the condensate drain has never frozen in the depths of winter, the ignition electrode has never failed.

Unfortunately, that's fairly common!

Not helped because their engineers get a smaller commission if a quotation visit is agreed to by the owner.

Nothing wrong with that because its a way to promote business. But unfortunately some engineers might be tempted to be shall we say a "little over zealous"!

high & low vents 202.86 cm2= change the doors for louver doors
flue guard 50mm away from the flue in all directions
distance from gutter/eaves 300mm

personally i would have just NCS it but i'm not BG

edited due to incorrect fiqures

I'd ncs it too, and I am bg, believe it or not we don't all turn everything that is 10years or more off.

What does it actually say on the safety notice paperwork?

Could just be that the guy has been a bit over zealous with the NCS totting up process.

For the record, from the pictures i would have NCS'd it

I have one of the smaller models in a tenated property. spacesaver 30b mk2 and I have been told everything RF has been told opps I lie,i have been told it contains asbestos    3 times.

H-o-H, iirc some spacesavers had asbestos rope seals, yours may be one of them

high & low vents 162 cm2= change the doors for louver doors

I seem to remember someone saying that BG do not accept louvre doors as a solution to ventilation.

Louvre doors are fine so long as the gaps are between 5 and 10mm wide and the total free air is at least the same as the total high/low vent requirements.

you should turn it around on them. if they have been servicing it every year ask them why they have been letting your parents use an unsafe boiler all this time putting their lives "at risk". They might change their mind all of a sudden :p
