Why you can't get a job!

They have had their wages tripled, if my employer were to do the same to me he might get a bit more out of me,these days they pretend to pay me so I pretend to work.

If you pretend to work, I fire yer ass.

Unless you pretend to work in the public sector of course.......

Nope, been there too long, got me rights.

When me and the Mrs came back to UK in the late 90s after a short career break to see the world, I did a few temp jobs before I decided whether to go back to the plumbing.

For a while, I worked at the huge car yards in Avonmouth near Bristol where Spanish built Vauxhalls are landed into the UK. The pay was rubbish - just over £5 an hour.

The company thought they were doing well by screwing their employees. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our attitude was the same as Enyams, rightly or wrongly there was the same pretence of payment and working.

Everyone was in slow motion, and they had to over-man the place because the employeees attitude was so laid back. The foremen were the same. They got paid more, but it was still peanuts for the responsibility.

The company took a second hit because the only way the employees (we're mostly talking middle aged people with kids, not students, casuals) could make the job pay was with overtime. The foremen encouraged people to go slow during the day so everyone got early starts, overtime after 4pm as well as double time weekends. The overtime bill must have been enormous.

Had they paid the staff more sensibly, and motivated them and the foremen, they would have cut the wage bill massively. Yes, there would have been fewer workers, but the work would have got done a lot more efficiently without the constant air of disgruntled, poorly paid staff, surviving on overtime.

You guys should all have been sacked. That would have motivated you.

Is it any wonder foreigners are flocking to this country.

Do you imagine that the foreigners will be happy to work as slave labour for ever? They will soon have their snouts in the benefit trough. The foreign cheap labour will soon become a cost to the UK rather than a benefit.

Also, employing millions of foreigners is a fools paradise, where they send huge chunks of money overseas. British workers spend their money here.

The foreigners I've seen work their nuts off.

They have a good work ethic.

The ethic you pointed out above is one reason why many manufacturers are getting the hell out of this country.
And who could blame them?

And the ones who opt to stay want johnny foreigner.
Also johnny foreigner doesn't bang the "I know my rights" drum.

Aye,, "Johnny foreigner" might not bang on the "I know my rights" drum, but ,,,,,, he/she almost certainly knows exactly what they're entitled to here in the UK ( including benefits)

And when he's married with five kids will work? Will he fook, he'll carry on like the rest of the benefit claiming locals.

Well, in my team of 8 there are two Yanks (dual UK citizenship), one German, one Italian and one Bulgarian.

All selected on merit.

I would bet you quite a bit of cash that only the Brits know 'their rights'. The others are here because of the opportunity that the UK gives them over their own country. They are very good indeed.

These are exactly the kind of people we need to attract to get us out of the deep hole the "I Know My Rights" Brits have got this country into.

You moaners need to wake up and smell the coffee and prepare to compete.

No time for people with an attitude like that.

These people from the EU are prepared to move to work, no reason why Brits shouldn't.
Because the Government over the years didn't do anything about it
Give me a hard working immigrant over a useless Brit who thinks they are owed a living simply because they were born here.
Not all immigrant are hard working, it's the Government fault just like they've done nothing about the lazy Brits and the huge surge of migrants and organised crime. In my town over 700 weapons and knives seized in a year, this was unknown 10 yrs ago. My mother bungalow was broken into last year and I won't say what the gangs was, I rest my case

Your attitude is, if I don't like it here, get out :!: Why should I? I was born here and what about all my family and close friends :?:

All I can say to you is that you're not effected by it yet, what comes around goes around. When will the Government wakes up to this because their policies is not working.

How many paid holidays do you give them per annum.Do you pay sick pay?,

25 + bank holidays and Yes.

Masona.

The only way EU immigration will affect me is positive. We need a load of young talented workers to provide a decent tax base to pay for the Brits who have become lazy and feel they have 'Their Rights'.

If you are talking about the reduction in standard of living that is coming our way. Well, that is mainly due to

1) Globalisation and competition from economies elsewhere. UK industry/workers were not capable of competing and have lost out. You have gained because you can get a 40 inch TV now for £300.

2) The electorate in the UK, thinking they had their rights to a higher standard of living than they deserved, voted in governments who borrowed to make up the difference.

Nowt to do with immigration at all. At all !!!

It's the immigrants who will save us.
