In contrast to problems that I had with this shower a few years ago, and what most people seem to have as well, this time, I can't get any cold water out of it! I suspect it is the thermostatic valve not pulling cold water through. Has anybody else had this problem? Is it repairable or not? Thanks.

usually a new thermostatic cartridge will fix most problems with thermostatic showers, unless the inlet filters are blocked or there is a supply issue.

See if the filters have been fitted, theres an isolation screw on some of the trevi supplied ones (could be under the bath/shower tray) close iso and clean the filters. If this doesn't fix it take the shower off (keep iso's closed) then see if any water is coming out of the pipe. If it is check/clean/replace the cartridge.

Is it worth checking the operation of the two flow control valves and gear drive first?

Yes it is. I took the gar cover off and just engaged the gearshaft and handle between the two cluch gears and marked the centres up with paint marks. The left hand, cold valve is very stiff. Most of the time it doesn't turn relative to the clutched gear, sometimes it does and the whole handle seems easier to turn. New valve to purchase before rebuilding...

New cold water valve purchased and fitted. Turned it on without the gear being also meshed into the hot water valve, and apart from a few spurts..nothing came out of the shower head in any position of the temperature control. Looks like it could be the thermostatic control valve after all...
