I'm going to buy a new panel van, I've got about £8,500 to spend.

I want something with reasonably low mileage and 2 or 3 years old which means my choices are the Vivaro, Transit, Traffic, Primaster etc.

I'd like to go with VW and Merc, but would mean getting an older one, with higher mileage, so I'm ruling those out.

I'm leaning towards the Vivaro 'cos I like the look of it, is there any good reason why I should go for one, above the other?

Any help at all woud be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

If you could push the boat out and find a nice VW, they hold value well. But its a lottery

Thanks gentlemen.

I love VW but I really can't go any higher on the price.

I'm happy to rule Renault out.

I hate the look of the Transit. But if they were far superior to the Vivaro, then I would have to consider them.

Each to their own :p Transits are available in so many guises there's sure to be one for you, and personally I think they are marvelous to drive being so well thought out.
Maintenance and repair is also straight forward with a dealer in almost every town.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I did a search on here for Vivaro, there are pages and pages of people wanting advice as theirs was giving them problems.

I did the same with Transit, there's hardly any.

I'm definitely going for a Transit, I don't like the look of them but I do like their reputation.

Shame I couldn't get a van with the vivaro body shape and the Transit workings.

Yes, its a nice looking van and practical - when it goes. The Citroen/Peugeot vans are pretty good mechanically if you can find one you like.
