Hello everyone and than you to anyone who can help!

I am renting a place, it has an ideal response 120 boiler. The shower is incredibly frustrating - it is possible to get a good temperature for all of 2 seconds and then the temperature of the shower goes cold until you slightly move the cold tap and then the same will happen again. And when the shower is hot, it is very very hot. So it is either too hot (it can keep very hot constantly) or cold, it stays at a decent in between temperature for maybe 2 seconds... It is so so frustrating and I would be grateful if anyone has any advice on what this is likely to be?

I raised it with the landlord who is denying there is a problem with it as he tried himself last month supposedly. I would really appreciate anyone who has any advice on this so I can understand what the problem is and be a bit more clued up when I reapproach him about it.

Thank you in advance for anyone kind enough to help me out!

James

It could be connected the wrong way, or on unbalanced supplies...

Thank you for the responses!

With regards to the mixer question - It mixes of the tap.

Turn the shower on, then observe the boiler, is it constant or going on and off ? Also, does it only happen with the shower or the hot taps as well ?

Hi - thanks for this, it feels like progress!

So, I have turned the shower on - the burner comes on. Once the cold tap goes beyond a certain point, the burner turns off.
I turned the hot tap on - the burner comes on, I turn the cold tap on, the burner goes off but the hot tap stays hot (is that normal?)???

Thank you!

Though the pressure does reduce substantially in the hot tap, when I turn the cold tap on in the sink if that is related at all

Don't turn the cold on, just the hot, does the burner go on and off (cycles) ?

This thread can go on for pages, but at the end of the day you will have to contact the landlord!

Agreed, but if he can sort it he can have a nice shower now, not in 3 months time ;) . OP sounds like a pressure/flow problem. Is the stop tap fully open ? If you open the hot then the cold it will reduce the pressure from the hot (downside of a combi) . The response has a hot water restrictor under the boiler, this may need adjusting.

From the MI,s.
If the supply of hot water from the appliance is incorrect with the domestic hot water tap fully open then the Response boiler includes a domestic hot water restrictor handle for you to adjust the water flow rate to obtain the temperature you require. The restrictor handle is located beneath the boiler on the left.
Rotate the restrictor handle anti-clockwise to increase temperature and clockwise to decrease temperature as indicated on the handle.

Hope this helps.
