Terminating SWA in Meter Box?

All that is written is the 3m maximum tail length and that customer equipment is not allowed in the box!
There is a certain element of irony in that, if the only things written are a requirement for meter tails >3m to be protected by a fuse and an effective prohibition of installing a fuse at the upstream end of those cables!

Not really, but we have a large amount of discretion and empowerment to make decisions so only, in a lot of cases, have a few guidelines!

Looking at this case I would consider all the circumstances on-site (not on a forum) and decide on a solution acceptable to all.

This is , to me, the difficulty of obedience to words in a book which we see here all too often and no "freedom" to make professional decisions. It has brought parts of the industry to the level of the lowest. (even if it is of untrained building inspectors)

I'm sure that's sometimes necessary. However, in the present context, I think that all of us have a fairly clear idea of what we would regard as reasonable in the OP's situation (and all agree that what the OP had done was not very reasonable), and what wouldn't have caused the meter man to walk away, so I would doubt that the DNO would normally get involved, let alone make a site visit in a case like this. Indeed, I would imagine that meter operator staff come across hundreds of cases every say of customer's equipment being ('reasonably') in meter cabinets without batting an eyelid and certainly without informing or involving the DNO.

I certainly hope not. That ↓↓↓↓ is on a piece of meter operator's backboard, originally holding the teleswitch

The English language leaves plenty of scope for ambiguities - are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? :)

I moved my fusebox off the meter board.

That left the meter board unnecessarily big so I sawed it down to size and put it back on the wall neater. ;)

The house was originally wired by an electrician who lived there 20 years ago. The gas bond goes from the black box MET to the service pipe, then to the consumers installation at the other side of the meter. I guess he wanted to be thorough ???

The water and AN Other (I assume it goes to the bathroom) connect to the MET of the consumer unit, 4m away.
