Hi all, due to not always having somewhere to park, we're thinking of building a very simple driveway on our front garden.

At the moment it's a lawn that drains well, it's not a huge area and we like having the grass there, so the plan is to have 2 strips of paving slabs (for use of a better word), with a decent gap between each that we can plant moss in (so that there's as much green as possible)

I'll need to have a very strong concrete sub base, and then slabs that can take the weight of a car, but what other considerations do I need make?

In terms of drainage, there wont be a huge expanse of block paving/concrete/tarmac, so I'd expect little to change in that aspect (I know I'm bound to be wrong here!)

We also need a drop kerb for access, that's part of the budget already

thanks all!

i suppose you'd need to be careful about how far apart you have the slabs so that the vehicle can move from one to the next. aside from the possibility of getting stuck (or compressing the ground) between them maybe the vehicle moving across it would put a lot of weight on the edges and risk loosening/cracking them, but that's just a guess.

if greenery is your priority (just lower down the list than parking your car) why not give something like this a go?

Thanks for the suggestions, hadn't considered the mesh - that might be preferable, so will do some research
