Got a 3D tv a while ago and never bothered watching anything .. but tried last week to watch a programme for period and cannot get used to the glasses... its ok for a while but that is it...spoke to e few guys in work and although they have 3D nobody bothers with it and the bbc have announced they are to stop making 3D programmes ......... is it a white elephant

I love watching 3D films at the cinema - my favourite was A Christmas carol - but I have to admit I come out with a bit of a headache.
I would like a 3D Tv but as you suggest, I think the novelty would wear off pretty quick.

Wasn't there going to be 3D TVs released where you didn't need to wear glasses, sure there was?
In any case i don't as i was born with a lazy eye which never got corrected which now means i'm virtually blind or unable to focus with one eye and seeing as you need to 2 good eyes both looking through coloured lenses equally then i would never see 3D, just a coloured screen
HD on an LED TV is plenty IMO

when i was buying my big screen tv a few years back,the sales guy was very pushy when it came to 3d.wonder even then if the powers that b already knew it was a slow take up?
well i had a looksie for about 5 mins,and came away with a bloody headache.

We have watched in 3D on our TV at home. It works very well, in my opinion. One film on blue-ray disc (Hugo) I remember being very effective.
The main drawback, as far as I'm concerned, is that the glasses are a bit heavy, but I can live with that.
The reason why 3D is becoming less popular is debatable. Less interest amongst viewers or fewer films/programmes? The chicken or the egg?
All I will say is that if more 3D films were produced we'd probably buy them assuming, of course, they are of interest. The last one we bought was Part 1 of The Hobbit. I'll be very disappointed if Parts 2 and 3 don't come out in 3D (or at all!).

For me, 3D is a novelty for the occasional cinema film, but I would never buy a 3D TV. Apart from anything, I think it would give me motion sickness to watch for long.

Why did you buy a 3d tv then?
I recently bought a new tv all large TV's are now 'smart' as my internet was so bad didn't really want it, but hey hoe Im glad I did as my internet is now fast enough to watch it.
The strange thing I found was that the tv was NOT pushing the fact it had HD.
When I lived in London & had Virgin, the tv reception was so good there was not much of a difference between HD & std tv, but there is a big difference now between std & HD.
