Greetings ppl,

A couple of bulbs in my bathroom need to be replaced but cannot find a way to remove them. 'Search' would have ideal but dont know what am looking for :rolleyes:.

Anyway, attached a pic. Can somebody advise how to remove them? Could be as simple using a suction cup .. but thats just my thought.

I can't see any retaining clip from the photo. You could trying pushing the bulb in slightly and turning anti-clockwise.

Correct, there is no retaining clip. I have tried turning but it does not move. Feels like something is holding the bulb from inside .. something like an inverted 'V' clip?

There are likely to be two types of bulb with this type of unit - the GU10 twist and turn anticlockwise type and a two pin pull out type.
If you are still struggling to get the bulb out and you can gain access to the (loft?) space above the lamp you can distinguish between the two - the GU10 type does not have a transformer.
The other option is to remove the whole unit from the ceiling.

And is there a 12v transformer attached to the end of the unit or is it connected directly to the mains.
A transformer means pull the light out via its pins - the mains means twist the lugs anti-clockwise.
It should also say what type of lamp (GU10 etc) is to be used on the lamp unit itself.
Make sure you turn the power off before you start anything.
In the past when the lugs or pins have become stuck (corroded) I have had to break the glass of the lamp and use a pair of pliers to remove it - though you would probably have to change the bulb connector as well.

Thanks for your responses.

I would assume its a transformer type as I cannot move it anti-clock. I'll double check to be sure.

you can't lever it out, you may need to purchase a special remover, like these ones here
Have a B&Q and an Home-Base nearby. Will check with them.

Does it not say the bulb type on the casing?
It starts off "use Reflekto" the rest will tell you the bulb type, which in turn will tell you the fitting, I would imagine.

Bought a LAMP-SUCKER-REMOVAL-TOOL but cannot pull the lamp out.

Does it not say the bulb type on the casing?
This is what it says -
USE BLV REFLECTO LAMP ONLY! In order to maximise the safety of the firesafe light unit, fit the correct lamp! Standard dischroic lamps reflect heat backwards and this is not desirable!

For the Replacement Lamp INT PATENT APP - XXXXXX"

Dont think it says how to remove the lamp. Any ideas?

Throw it away and replace the lights - an excellent opportunity to replace them with something actually designed to light up rooms.

Figured it out (finally! :rolleyes:) with some help.

* See second pic
* Move the 'red' plastic covering, and you can find an inverted V clip holding the blub
* Use a flathead screwdriver and push the bulb down (place the flathead between bulb and holder, rotate the screwdriver)
* .. the bulb's out!

Hope its useful for somebody else.. cheers.
