Hi all, at the moment i have a worcester bosch 532i suppling hot water on demand and heating rads on timer. I have a wood burning stove in my lounge. Is there a way to use stove to heat hotwater and store in tank in loft and be connected to the hot water supply of the combi. I know combi is pressurised and hot water tank would be vented. I know the two cannot be directly connected. Dont want to use stove to connect to rads as when stove is on it heats house fine. Thanx for any advice

Probably the easiest solution is to install a thermal store with a mains pressurised water heating coil which can then be heated by either the gas boiler or wood stove.

But these kind of things need designing by a professional who understands the safety implications.

We assume you have an unlimited supply of free wood.

And I assume that the stove manufacturer can supply a boiler kit for your stove otherwise the only way you'll get hot water from it would be to sit a kettle on the top..

I have seen this done and working but is a big job.

Essentially you have to create a full new gravity system to a cylinder including one heat sink radiator.

You then pump from the cylinder to the combi (so large header tank required).

Mixer valve probably required so water entering combi is not above that specified by boiler manufacturer.

But only some combis will allow pre-heated weater.

As I say major job for little reward (work out hot water heating costs and then the payback period and it will likely be a big no no).
