Evening!

I've recently installed an unvented cylinder but I'm not sure how to go about registering it.

The boiler has already been registered via Glowworm when I did the warranty, no problems there.

On the Gas Safe website there's only an option to register "vented" cylinders, which is odd. Unless I'm doing something wrong!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

I will be corrected soon enough if I am wrong but I was under the impression that in England you had to notify your local building control before installing an unvented HW cylinder then they would issue you with a warrant

I've heard something like this too, it's too late now though. Just trying to figure out whos hoops I need to jump through to sort it

Sorry Andy

I am in Scotland but I am G3 qualified and I am sure when I done the course that they said in England you needed a warrant , wont argue with anyone who says different though

Who do I need to phone to sort it out? I've done this stuff for years but always worked for a large company so never had to worry about registrations before.

Thanks.

If you are indeed qualified then you can do it through gas safe.

I I have the option to do both vented and unvented when the mood takes me.

Op, do you have G3 certification?

I don't think you get the option to register something you haven't provided gas safe with your certificates for. Assuming you are registered with gas safe, send them a copy of your certificate and you will be able to register it through them.
If you aren't gas registered you could join either napit or nic and notify through them. If you aren't registered with a competant persons scheme you should have notified your LABC before installing it.
If you are registered with a competant persons scheme then you can just install and certify, no need for a warrant.

Thanks Dan / Rick.

Situation is... I have G3 and all the relevant gas qualifications but I work for a company so don't have my own personal GS number so I'm not used to registering procedures etc.... My Dad however, runs his own plumbing/heating company but in all honesty he's an old school kinda guy and doesn't bother registering cylinders and doesn't know how to go about doing so. He said he's G3 qualified but now I'm not so sure as "unvented cylinders" doesn't appear on his account when registering! Could it be that he just hasn't told Gas Safe?

I sure some of you lads will love reading this and will no doubt be replying in capital letter very soon ;) ;)

If your dad hasn't sent gas safe his g3 they won't know about it and so will assume he isn't qualified.

And I could be wrong as ive never fit a glow worm but registering the warranty and registering the install with building control are two different things.

Thanks Rick. I was thinking that might be the case after Dan said he has both options on his gas safe page. What's all this warrant business though??

And I could be wrong as ive never fit a glow worm but registering the warranty and registering the install with building control are two different things.

If you are a Glow worm club energy registered installer they will register the install with Gas safe and LBC on your behalf when you register the install with them.

Oh yea sure but as you register the warranty with Glowworm, they register it with Gas Safe for you. Quite handy as it's all done via an app on my phone that scans the barcode on the boiler.
