Hi, quick question...

I'm in the middle of finishing a downstairs room and am left with the Solid Oak floors to be sanded and the rest to be painted (walls and ceiling etc).

What do you Pro's do first? My dilemma is that if I do the walls first, then when I sand I end covering the lovely new paint (Farrow and Ball) in saw dust.

Alternatively, if I do the floors first, I will end up covering them in the paint etc.

Maybe the answer is Floors then walls and cover the floor? But just wondered what the trade done on this one?

Thanks....

Chris,

Do any prep needed to the floors, hoover and remove all traces of dust, cover and bring your walls to a finish.

Remove sheets from floor, hoover up all dust and bring to a finish.

Hi Dec,

Ah, I see, I am covering the floor in Sacos Wax Oil and cannot cover for a long period once used (should have said that before). So this would solve this problem.

So just to clarify, can I just check with you that are you saying (in order):

1) Sand Floor
2) Hoover and Cover floor
3) Finish walls and Ceiling
4) Uncover Floor and Seal with Sacos

Being honest, the mistake I was going to make to the above order would have been Sand floor and then seal immediately afterwards, then finish the walls and ceiling.

Sorry, think you have already answered this, but need to be sure as I will hire the sander for next weekend for step 1.

Thank you.

Chris.
