impact driver capability?

I do a fair amount of DIY and got an Makita impact driver after struggling with some jobs using a Makita drill/driver.

Best tool I've bought as it's brilliant for a lot of jobs.

I use the drill/driver for lots of jobs still but the impact driver takes over and makes life a lot easier and quicker.

I totally agree. I've got an 18v Makita Impact Driver. Best thing I ever bought (along with the combi drill)! It will drive 4" 12's and coach bolts easily. Word of warning, easy to overtighten, buy decent bits and dont cover the vents.

I was toying with the idea of getting an impact driver until I tried some different screws one day. I needed some 4'' screws and spotted some new ones at the timber yard - Timco Classic Plus with the torx head.

The difference between these and a more standard type screw was night and day - I spent the best part of the day connecting 4 x 2's with an 18v Hitachi combi and it's never been easier, not a single cam out and every one fully sunk quicker than I could drill a pilot.

In a week or so I'm looking to buy the Ryobi 18v impact driver. Okay B&Q get a ribbing but I think £99 is a good price.

just check on line prices before parting with your hard earned,as there may well be a better model for the money your willing to spend.

The thing with me is I'm gonna have to spend those b&q vouchers I just know I'm gonna get at xmas on something useful. It does sound like a handy impact driver.

I have the Bosch 10.8v Impy, had it two years. Brilliant tool.

The matching drill/driver is also well handy, sits in the toolbar and is very very good in tight spots inside kit cabinets etc.

Recommended.
