Hello all,

I'm having problems with my Hotmail (Outlook) account.

I have a Sky email account that is linked via POP3 to my Hotmail account which has worked perfectly for around 3 years. However, for about the past 10 days, the Hotmail account hasn't been receiving the emails that are addressed to the Sky account.

Both accounts receive the emails that are addressed to them individually, so I'm not missing anything, but I've got so used to the convenience of getting everything into one account that it's frustrating me.
I just can't understand why the forwarding from the Sky address/receiving to the Hotmail address has suddenly stopped working. I haven't changed any settings in either account so I know it's not something that I have done.

Does anybody here have any advice/suggestions on how to get it working again please?

Maggie

Hi, Diyisfun, and thanks for the link, but...I should have explained earlier....I have already tried to access the settings in both accounts but cannot get into the settings for POP on the sky account. It sends me to a login page for Yahoo which will not let me sign in with my sky ID and password and I don't have another yahoo account so its confusing me as to what I am supposed to do.
The Hotmail account lets me see the POP settings, which look correct, but when I click 'save' it says 'unable to connect to POP server'. This means I can't tell at which end the problem lies.

I have just spent a whole hour on web chat to sky, after looking at the first page on your link, trying to explain the issue and they were absolutely no help at all. They eventually told me to try the very same link I had just contacted them from and ended up giving me a phone number to call!!
I knew that would happen, so that's why I asked there first.

Anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions on how to get it resolved?

Thank you.

Maggie

Ring sky or contact and ask them to reset account, sky use yahoo now for email hence the referral.had mine reset this week.

Hi foxhole,

Thanks for the advice but everything is working fine now. I didn't even have to do anything and it started working the next day. From what I've read, it seems it was a fault with the Outlook server and the change of date to 2014, because many people were complaining about the same problem. Strange how it took Microsoft over a week for them to recognise and sort it out though!

Thanks
Maggie

Mrs T, Its good practice, after asking for advice to come back & say if & how you got it sorted.
It can also help other people.

I agree, and usually do, but seeing as I didn't get any further responses until today, I didn't think anyone was interested.

Thanks again. :)
