Sky music volume too loud!

Has anyone else noticed that the tv guide music (EPG) is suddenly much louder than the channels? It seems to have happened since they changed from the Christmas tunes to the new tunes on the 6th Jan.

DEAFENING!

I don't have Sky, but I bet it's a similar thing to all commercial channels when adverts come on.
They deny it, of course, but they definitely turn up the volume for adverts.

I beleive the rules are they can't make the adverts louder than the programs. But I have noticed a lot of the programs seem to have very loud theme tunes these days.

Don't know much about it, there're some gadgets for automatic volume control the loud TV commercials

The advertisers get over the loudness ban by heavily compressing the sound to the loudest part of the music, thus making it much louder to the ear than shown on their level meters.

So they claim, but my ears don't believe them!

I think that's a very good idea. Of course, they would never have been thought necessary if adverts really were no louder than the programmes.

Personally, I get round it by pre-recording and then skipping through the adverts. It's inevitable, though, that I unintentionally hear some bits of adverts.

I wouldn't mind adverts so much if they were even in the slightest entertaining. Those meerkats just before Coronation Street can be quite funny, though. If we ever have children, I'm going to call the boy Bogdan!

I think the whole 'sound' thing is one massive ballsup!

We watch tv on about volume 12
Some Blu rays on volume 100 (and we still can't here it)
The programme music is always louder than the mumbling actors
Adverts are louder than the programmes
Different channels vary in volume

What ever happened to VU meters?
