Has anyone used Floetrol in vinyl Matt emulsions and if so have they had good results with it or is it only really good for water based trim paints and is there any downside to using it

I use it in acrylic trim paint, but never felt the need to use it in emulsion as diluting it with water does the job.
It does as it claims - helps reduce brushmarks and keeps the wet edge longer so is worth the cost for me. The only downside is the extra cost but as I said, it is worth it for me.

I've used it a bit in hot weather with trim paints, its ok i guess. You have to be careful to only decant about an hours paint at a time as the floetrol can make your paint go stringy. Apparantly xim is better but not used it. Did try floetrol in some emulsion to stop it drying as it hit the wall, i didn't think it made much difference, but that said i'm never really sure how much to put in.

I should have added that I now use xim latex extender more as floetrol has gone stringy once or twice.
As dcdec says, just add to what paint you put into your kettle - I use about 20-25mm per litre roughly, but it is more a 'how-it-feels' thing - you sort of know when paint is the right consistency, and it shows when you apply it, as it just goes on right !
