Before you do this make sure your switches have working earths available.

You could take a trip down to a local electrical wholesalers and talk to them, do you have a issue with the items supplied by wickes and screwfix?
The screwfix collection is not that bad!
But there are many other stockist of electrical accessories, depends on what you are actually really after?

But as stated in above post, before replacing plastic accessories for metallic ones, continuity of the cpc/earths and a path back to the supply earth must be confirmed.

Thanks

The electrician has said that earth is available.

electrician said he had recently some problems with screwfix brand sockets i.e. LAP brand so he told me i may be better of going elsewhere.

Well Lap are a cheap brand, you gets what you pays for!
Screwfix do stock other branded accessories!

But saying that I did fit some Lap polished chrome stuff not so long back and they were generally okay, not the highest of quality as far as the installer was concerned  but once on looked good!

Buy online? Hamilton sockets look good and aren't too expensive, nor are Schneider, unless you want screwless!

The LAP range looks nice on the outside but ive had issues with them the terminal screws are of very poor quality, supplied done tight and sometimes wont undo

I used Hamilton in my kitchen, and they are good quality. British made too, if you are bothered by that sort of thing!
