I have a dripping tap. I successfully remove outer casing etc to expose brass fixture. I can't for the life of me get that to move in either direction. Clockwise or anti clockwise. Is it because I am weak and pitiful? Should it move easily or should I get a stronger friend or wife to do it. Or a plumber??
advice please.

If you have exposed a brass insert with a hexagon to turn, then get a bigger spanner and turn anti clockwise.
Your biggest issue - if its a monoblock tap or a single unit - is stopping it spinning on the basin......avoid that or it may leak below.
