Hi all
Just like to through this out to anyone in the know.
We are doing a major 2 storey extention and renovating old house etc.

Heat pump source
New water cylinder
Multi fuel woodburner (connect to boiler run rads off it).
14 new radiators TVR two-way therm valves.
Pressure vessel
Old to new pipework in old house
Bathroom, en-suite and utilitiy room sanitary wear fitted 2nd fix

Have been quoted £17.000
Seems very steep to me considering we are supplying the sanitary wear and log burner.
Any offers of advise.
Cheers kobanks

what's your estimate of a fair price, and how did you calculate it? What's your heat pump design?

Seems cheap to me considering you are going for a heat pump, 14 rads and a replumb of the house.

But, and it's a BIG but, no one can say as we haven't seen your job

I understand i need to get a lot more quotes and get the firm to break costs down do i can see what is what.
Cheers kobanks

Since it is a considerable sized project I would advise you get in another 2 or 3 quotes. Do not get" a lot more quotes" as if the prices are similar then you are wasting your time and theirs. Do however get an itemised detailed quote as you mention.

And dont forget pay cheap pay twice !!

Just make sure your'e getting quotes from proffesionals thay know what they are doing ask for questions and their spec.

£17000 is extremely cheap. I would be worried that whoever priced this is out of their depth and will realize halfway through the job they are going to make no money.
From the vague info you give, I would expect to be paying more like £25-30k.
