Our 5.5 year old Hotpoint Fridgefreezer has started to play up. We noticed it was a lot quieter than normal so checked the temperature and both fridge and freezer were too warm. We tried all sorts of things, switching off, cleaning the grid on the back, removing stuff from the fridge, checking nothing was touching the sides etc. etc. Still it would not make the normal running noises.
We found a post on this site about taking the covers off inside and removing any ice around the fan and freezer drain tube, we did that (there was quite a lot of ice) and powered it back on, after a few minutes the running noises started the and fridge and freezer started to reach good cooling temperatures.
This was yesterday, this morning the temperatures get very cold (fridge 2.4 and freezer -27.4) then it all goes quiet and the temps rise to 7.9 and -7.4 respectively.
Any ideas why the temps are not staying constant at acceptable levels of 5 and -18 ?
