Underfloor heating in my orangery...

hi guys,
underfloor heating in my orangery.. 20m2 floor area.
can anyone recommend pipe spacing? 200mm/150mm or 100mm?

As Dan has stated, it's a serious question of the building fabric & U values etc. while the pipe spacing will produce a watt/M2 output. This is only one aspect of the whole design of the system. What is your mean water temperature for example??

Are you a hairyarsed builder wanting to install this yourself by any chance??

Hello
The roof lantern is rated at u value of 1.0 but would take that value with a pinch of salt.
The orangery itself only has one outside wall which is filled with kingspan.
Other three walls are all brick which has kingspan inside.
Water temperature is 45deg coming from existing manifold
 
In that case it seems quite a reasonable proposition to have UFH.

I would always recommend about 100 mm spacing because the tube is cheap and you can always turn the heat down but never up!

Depending on what you put on TOP of the tubes you would usually get at least 100 w/sq m output which should be adequate in your case.

Thanks for your reply.
I noted on the web their are 100M and 150M coils.
With the area being almost 20m2 is there any advantage to me using 150M coils ?

With respect Tony that's all well & good, but what if the OP is covering the whole floor with 25mm Oak & then putting down a shagpile carpet, we simply don't have enough information.

most heat losses are more like 100 W per sq m then there is a little in hand for the oak and a carpet.

I was wondering what people do in an orangery? Seems like something you would expect to find at Hampton Court!

I make that a floor producing 3KW of radiant heat Tony, what Heatloss have you calculated for the fabric of the building, including all glazing.
 
If it's not enough, slam a myson slimline heater in to make up the shortfall.
