I have a Mira Advance ATL thermostatic electric shower. The shower has worked well until a few days ago. The shower now gives a high flow blast of water for around 5 seconds, the low pressure light then comes on and soon after that the flow ceases and the stop light comes on. I've turned up my mains stopcock to see if that was the cause, I've cleaned out the shower head thoroughly and tried without the shower head on and tried high, medium and low flow settings but still no joy. The service light does not come on during these episodes.theres no blockages no limescale all stop valves are clean is it time for a new one as its over 12 years old, can anyone please help

If this is your shower?, check the fault diagnosis parts.

Is the shower still under warranty?
Sounds like it could be a PCB issue.
Does the error light stay on or flash?

no warranty its atliest 12 years old it was already in a previous address wen i moved in 2010 and brought it with me and i installed it but until now, it has served me excellently.
there is no error light on it only service and low pressure windows only the low pressure light comes on.

There is a filter where the main water comes in to the shower, on top of the inlet there is a black plastic bit, if you un screw that there is a filter in there, if thats blocked could cause the shower to cut out, remember to turn the water off before hand tho, and the power but that should go without saying ;)
Hope this helps

thanks cross fir but thats all clean im going to buy a new one but having a combi im not sure the best one ive seen a thermostatic bar shower will thats be the best one

I personally think you have PCB issue, 12 years is a fair innings.

Thoughts on electric v thermostatic.
electric showers generally offer pure flow rate but will work if ever you have a boiler issue or gas cut.

Grohe are generally a reliable brand for thermostatic valves.
