is it possible to solder chrome radiator tails to copper elbows? i'm putting a towel radiator in the bathroom and want to bring chrome piping out of the wall at right angles i would like to solder them rather than compression joints as they will eventually be behind tiles.

If you clean the chrome off the pipe to bare the copper you can solder joints onto them.You can or could buy extended tails for Mira 915 showers which were chromed soldered 90' bends probably 4 or 5 inches long. There may be something at the merchants pre made for you.
it was more a case of "could" you solder copper to chrome as no-one seems to have a definative answer

yes as long as you remove the chrome in the area of the joint

shouldn't.....u can place a wet cloth a bit further up the pipe so the heat transfer is not to bad and the exposed bit should be fine (i'm assuming the elbow is going under the floor boards so that will give u an inch or more to play with
I like this clean the chrome off business. You mean, file it off, attack it with scratch mat, file it some more and then it'll still leak.

took all the advise onboard, ground the chrome off used a wet cloth, no leaks and posh looking tails coming ou the wall ready for tiling
