Our never ending bathroom project [pics]

I put together a wee video of the whole 'crash, bang, whallop' mission. (click pic to start vid). Not as big an area as yours and not nearly as swanky lookin' but i'm happy with it! :D

I like that loo roll holder you have on the back of the door, BTW. kinda like the mag from a revolver! Bit of a reach to get at it whilst 'in-situ' tho innit?

 I can relate to the 'sigh' in your video chippie, I did that so many times during the project. Nice job by the way. Our original bathroom was smaller than yours!!

Loo roll holder is from Ikea and no it's not actually that far away, just an arms reach, I think small children would struggle tho

He he! Thanks. :D

I think anyone who's taken on a major diy job can relate to the 'sigh'. I think that particular one was at sometime in the wee, small hours. Had to get the tilling done before the bath could be fitted. Could only fit the bath the next day so a tilling marathon it had to be! :(

Any more major diy work in the pipeline?

Nothing as major as the bathroom, thankfully all the structural stuff was done prior to us moving in properly 3 years ago (yest it's taken 3 years to sort out the bathroom  )

Just plastering the hallway left to do now (3 floors worth!!). Suddenly the scabby walls have become an eyesore where once they were invisible! I'm tempted to t&g them  I know how to do that!!! But the house is in danger of being turned into a New England cliché!!!

That looks lovely. And it's a lovely big bathroom you have too.

I have to have the smallest bathroom in the world and I'm wracking my brains for something to do with it, but I don't know what.

I did consider T&G panelling - does it make the bathroom any cosier?

could you recall what the loo roll holder is called? ..think its fab!

Sorry I didn't reply to the previous ones from December, I haven't been on here for a while!

scottishcruise: it cost approx £2,000 in total [bath, shower, sink, toilet, plumber, electrician, T&G and all the sundries - boy do those sundries add up!]

Alison 556: Trust me ours was the smallest bathroom in the world! The sink used to hang over the bath. We sacrificed the bedroom next door and knocked thru. The T&G does give it a cosy feel yes.

Mr Gus: The toilet roll holder is from the Racken range.

:D

Dear amanda, was wondering years on from your original post, how has your bathroom been, anything that you would have done differently, how did your D shape shower perform. You have given me my main inspiration. Well done

Hi Catpuss :D nice of you to get in touch!

Bathroom has been great! Still love it after all these years. It functions really well. Only thing I think I would do differently is not have a cream painted floor! We have to periodically give it a fresh coat as it's quite difficult to keep completely clean (especially when I accidentally drop hair dye on it). The caulk in the gaps has held well too ;)

D-shaped shower is still great but the silicon is looking a little grubby, but that's just bad maintenance on our part.

So all in all we got most of it right first time!

Hope your bathroom goes well Puss. Would be interested to see the final results.

Dear amanda many thanks for the reply, the only thing is I"m going to cheat and get someone else to do it!!!!!, I am ok at DIY but major stuff is no go. Many thanks for the feedback, really helpful

door opens right onto to the toilet?

shower control in the cold wet arm position?

how much did that all set you back?

looks pretty : )

Hi munching,

Yes door opens by toilet. Didn't have much choice over that design decision, soil stack is where it is, door is where it is. But there's enough room so it's not a problem :)

Shower head swivels so you can move it to the side when turning it on, so you don't get soaked before you get in!

Cost approx £2000 for the whole kit and caboodle, fixtures, fitting, T&G etc.

Thanks, yeah it is pretty :D
