Worcester 30Si condense trap cap leaking

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this?

The syphon is leaking the smallest ever leak on our Worcester boiler (installed 2010 and never had an issue). It is coming from the rubber seal on the cap at the bottom of the trap and only needs removing, cleaning and refitting to remedy, but to do this I'll need to drain the syphon. This is no problem to do but I want to know if I need to fill the syphon with water after or if the boiler will do this for me? If I do need to add water, what will be the easiest way? I am not willing to start taking the boiler apart and would rather wait til its next service if this is the case.

The boiler manual makes no mention of filling the syphon after removing the cap in the maintenance and service section, but the initial installation of the syphon does need water being added to it. I know some boilers have a syphon fill program, but my 30Si manual does not mention if the boiler has one.

It would save a bowl bring left under the boiler! But like I said, it only drips a handful of drops a day and I can wait for service if this is a job for the pros!

The condensate system of your boiler is part of the flue.

Don't play with it!

And I haven't as I was unusure, which is why I asked! I will be leaving it until service and not coming back here.

If I've ever forgotten to put water in a trap after putting it back in, I always wait until the boiler has filled it itself before I leave, just in case. Chances are it would "probably" be fine but it's not something a none professional should be doing because if it doesn't refill itself for whatever reason then the boiler could be very unsafe to use in a worst case scenario.

Assuming your boiler is still under warranty (eg: serviced annually and probably 5yrs+ warranty deal) just ring Worcester Bosch.
