This screwball idea of mine has disaster written all over it.
I ripped out my kitchen with the plan of tackling the floor, DPM'ing it and fitting tiles and a new kitchen.
However after ripping the kitchen out I found it had a lead supply pipe.
After reading the numerous websites that cover lead pipework I surmise that from inside my kitchen out to the meter is my problem.
My "Plan A" is to rent one of these.
http://www.jewson.co.uk/tool-hire/c...-drilling/products/2080/diamond-drilling-rig/
Drill down approx a meter or more through my cement floor using this 200mm diameter diamond core drill. Approx an inch from the interior wall.
(because diagram 1 describes a cement floor at ground level and suggests it can be less than 750mm from the external brick work
http://www.unitedutilities.com/Documents/1344_How_20to_20lay_20new_20pipe.pdf )
Then from the other side I'll dig a trench approx 750-900mm deep and come at it with another diamond core drill and pass ducting through for the new main supply pipe that I will get the plumber to connect up and UU to commision at there end.
This idea is Bonkers and doomed to fail.
I have never operated something like this and will certainly result in some sort of China Syndrome disaster. Possibly drilling so close to the wall will damage the foundations through the vibration and bring the whole house down on top of my head. However it's this or "Plan B" pay someone £500-600 to do it.
Plan A = £200, plumber pipework and diamond core drill's
Plan B = £5-600 get someone to do it.
Or is there a Plan C?
