Cladding kitchen Base Units

Hi Everyone,

I've extended our kitchen slightly to make it "Zonal" as the designers say, but i'm then left with the ugly backs of units - now i know you could get covers but wheres the fun in that - so instead I want to clad it with some great red cedar lengths i have

The only thing i'm concerned about is how to fix the cedar to the base units - my original idea was to bolt some uprights into the base units then fix the cedar to the uprights. Take a look at the pic and let me know your thoughts

First question is do you want a kickspace and plinth at the back? If you do then the plinth can be fixed to the verticals at the back of the units, but above the plinth will need to be built out a bit.

Oooh good point i hadn't thought about the plinth - my gut says i should really clad to the floor - thus extending the uprights to the floor but if i do a plinth it will be back and on the legs.

Personally, I would clad to the floor and then continue the skirting from the left hand wall along the bottom for a proffesional looking finish.

make sure you have a fairly substantial frame and attached to the sides and not the back for support
