Hello,

I am fitting brass curtain poles and sliding door tracks etc as part of hous renovation and looked at justifying a metal cut off saw.

In the past I have used an old TCT blade on my Dewalt mitre saw and slowling cut brass tube but I now have a lot of metal cutting to do.

Why have metal cut off saws and not just put a metal cutting blade on your mitre saw?

Whats the difference between Rage 4 TCT machine versus Dewalt abrisive disc machine at three times the price?

Thanks

Neither job requires a metal cut off machine. Pipe cutter for the poles or a simple junior hack saw, same for track.

cement can be mixed by hand without a mixer, heavy things can be lifted by hand using block and tackle no need for cranes!

In a situation where I have deemed it worth spending £100 on a machine to get quick, neat and accurate cuts simply can I put an abrasive disc in my wood mitre saw?

If not:

TCT blade or abrsive disc cut off saw?

Thanks

A metal saw wouldn't have TCT tipped blades (more like HSS) and would revolve much slower.......there's not a lot wrong with your theory though!

The cheap solution might be to get a stand for your angle grinder.

Now thats news to me, stand for an angle grinder, any makes, links etc?

I remember drill press stands for hand held drills as a kid, not sure there still on the go but presume you mean something similar, that would be ideal for my needs.

Thanks

Choose a stand very carefully.....the 'universal' ones may not hold the grinder securely and thats dangerous in the extreme - dont ask how I know!
I'd restrict cutting to 1mm discs, too.

Thanks for that point, not good!

Id looked at the Rage mitres saws before but was trying to justify it for the occasional use Id have after my current project but Ive just noticed FFX have them for £65, its a no brainer at that cost.

Cheers

Non-sliding rage now being sold half-price by S/Fix for £49.99.

Well worth it for your purposes methinks?
