Hello everyone,

I've got a Ferco Multipoint door. Since we moved in the door has been locked without a key and I want to replace the barrel. I've managed to snap the barrel and removed the largest side however I cannot, for the life of me, remove the other side of the barrel which seems to be held in with a screw that I cannot get to.

There's a large panel that runs down the door that can be seen on the first image and it looks like I need to remove this but I have no idea how. I've used a bit of force but worried I'll break the door.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Solly

The screw is behind that centre stile I'm afraid and it will need to come off.
There should be some screws holding the stile on, normally on the side you can see but I can't see any in the pictures. Have a look top downwards ( if that makes sense) to see what's holding it on.

If you can do a bigger side on view might be of help to :)

Thanks for the response Nooz, I've climbed up on a step ladder, removed the top plastic cap and looked down the panel that is on the edge of the door (the bit I need to remove to get to the screw that's holding the barrel in place). Here's what I see:

It appears to be attached with screws that come out from the door to the panel, as can be seen in the pic:

This seems totally bizarre to me as it looks like you'd have to dismantle the whole door to get to the lock which surely can't be the case??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Solly

Does look as if the screws come out from the inside of the frame, A bit bizarre because they normally are visible so you can take the meeting stile off.
The metal piece is an adaptor that keeps the meeting stile straight. These normally clip into the edge of the door and are then secured, some I've taken off in the past have been very hard to un-clip, literally working them off a bit at a time but yours looks the other way round. Without physically seeing it I wouldn't advise trying just in case.

I'm afraid that you may have to take the glass out to get to the screws, then it should be easy ;) to get off.

Sorry but I don't think there's an easier way to do it

Thanks lads, as luck would have it the neighbours had a window company in doing some work so I grabbed one of them and asked them to take a look. They need to remove the panel as Nooz suggested. They're also going to replace the lock for me too.

Thanks for all your help and at least it wasn't something stupid I'd missed.
