Hi Folks,
I've had a wall between two rooms removed in my 120 year old slate/stone cottage and the floors either side aren't quite level with each other. Added to this the floors in what were the two previous rooms and both sag towards one corner due to some subsidence many years ago (approx 30 yrs I think).

To further complicate matters one former room has a suspended wooden floor with the an 18 inch void beneath and the other side has 2 inch thick quarry tiles sat on a bed of what appears to be dusty / earthy material. Whatever it is its solid not suspended. As the property is 120 years old there is obviously no membrane beneath all of this lot.

My aim is a solid and level floor throughout both rooms (now one room). I had planned to dig out the side with the solid floor, lay a membrane and lay a concrete floor.
What I haven't a clue about is the wooden floored side of the room. Can i run the concrete straight over the top of it ?? I know there would still need to be vents as it's a suspended floor.

I don't know how well I have explained this so please let me know If I need to have another stab at it.

many thanks in advance

Given that you have cottage dimensions - why not dig out the solid floor and install a level suspended floor that will run to meet the neighbouring suspended floor?

DPM's, firm joist fixing, and thro-ventilation to be arranged by design. By lifting a few boards, a DPM can also be installed under the existing suspended floor.
