Hi everyone.

Basically I have built a storage/corner room cupboard due to the lack of space elsewhere and I took some advice when building to leave a bit of an upstand at the bottom. I don't like it and regret doing this.

I basically built the cupboard to house 2 existing louvers which I already had and wanted to make use of.

Problem is now I've lain the floor (8mm oak laminate) I'm left with a 120mm (approx) wide gap that I need covered.

Does anyone know a cheap and relatively easy solution to this?

Altering the opening to suit is easy enough but the floor is totally ruined now and I don't have enough spare to change boards as they run at right angles to the opening.

P.S Sorry if photos aren't clear, room is full of junk and walls haven't been plastered

You could make up a wide threshold from timber of suitable width with a rebate under to cover where it meets the laminate.
Either oak or cheaper timber dyed to match.

Fit a timber threshold sprayed with gold or some other metallic paint, will llook like it's meant...pinenot :)

Thanks both of you, only one place I have been able to find a threshold and that's on ebay, it's solid oak with a lip on each side, problem is it's almost £40, so looks as though this is a custom job as no way I'm spending that

Perhaps a little pedantic this question but what size lip would you chaps allow for? Just enough to cover gap i.e. 6mm or ?

Also best way to secure to floor? Was thinking standard plug and screw not gripfill or anything that can't be easily dismantled

I hate to disagree, but I would keep the lip down to 4_5mm wood along its length will spit easily and a wide thin overhang could break quite easily, no matter how much your intention not to stand on it _ you will...pinenot :)
