have I just been breaking up asbestos boards unknowningly?

For years I had corrigated asbestos sheeting on a lean to outside. I eventually got a builder neighbour to help me re frame to tile it, so we took them down, super careful and wrapped them in dpm. I paid a company 120 quid to take them and give me a piece of paper saying it was legit. After years of listening to everyone's hysterical expert opinion... DON'T TOUCH IT , EVACUATE THE AREA, the guy that took them said I didn't even need to wrap them as they were unbroken, etc.

On guy I spoke to over the years told me to cover the house in tarpaulin and fit a hoover to it! Everyone's an expert :(

Chuffed to see the back of them tho.

Not entirely sure why you decided that the wrapping needed to be camouflaged. Were you trying to hide them?
