Hi everyone.

I need to replace some doubled glazed units in our conservatory, one has broken (due to frost last year... or maybe the year before.. as I just not had the time, etc. etc), and two others have condensation/marks on inside of unit now.

I want to do it myself, firstly to save money, but mainly because I like to learn to do things myself.

But I just cannot seem to get the beading out. Any advice would be great, I have tried prising it out but it will not budge. Here are three pictures just taken to help:

Another outside:

I have tried prising it with screwdriver, and plastering blade, but it just does not budge.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Start in the middle of the longest bead.

You want a really thin scraper and a stiffer one. Line up the thin scraper and knock it in with the palm of your hand, Ease the gap open and get the stiffer scraper in too then work your way along.

It looks like the 2 units you need to change are fairly small, It could be worth practicing on another unit with a longer bead first. The small ones are always the trickiest.

First check to see if the black gasket on the outside will come out, use a scraper/chisel. This will make the process easier. Replace the gasket once the glass is back in, use some fairy liquid
