Hi

After a bit of advice, were having a small extension done to our kitchen. We currently have a small cloakroom off the back of the kitchen but were planning to extend it sideways and knock through to enlarge the kitchen.

The small issue is that there is a small radiator in the cloakroom with the pipework coming up through the concrete floor. This pipe work will sit right in the middle of the floor post extension and we're looking to have underfloor heading(electric) so this radiator pipe work is unneeded. I'm just wondering what should/could be done with it.

Our heating system is a combi boiler and I have no idea of the pipe work routing configuration.

So I'm wondering if I should join the pipe work below the ground and concrete over or can I cap off each pipe individually under the ground but with that option I'd be worried about trapping air in the system.

thanks in advice for any advice

a bit of a pic in case it helps to illustrate the point. I've just joined the 2 pipes together temporarily

Just cap them off, no need to link them. Check the other radiators work ok before repairing the floor.

Have you sat down and worked out the cost of running electric underfloor heating - it's astronomical.

It will be fine to cap pipes, but better to try and find where it joins main run and cap there if possible.

Thanks for the replies

Unfortunately its quite a small narrow kitchen so there really isn't the wall space for a radiator hence the underfloor heating, but the electric heating would only be used on a sporadic basis when required rather than on all the time

thanks again
