One For Enthusiasts Of Old Cars

Give it the similar treatment to the XR6 that was only sold in S. Africa. 3.0 Essex and Weber, or the XR6 Interceptor has triple Webers.

I was in SA last year for work and one of the lads in the workshop had a tidy XR6.....had been used for film work over there. Was a nice car and sounded great.

If I was going to change the engine in one I would either go cheap and whack a BMW M60/M62 in or go big and fire an LS1 in.

I've been to SA several times as I have family out there. They tend to get some interesting variants of vehicles that weren't available in Europe. I particularly liked the MK3 Cortina pickups/bakkie available with 2.5 V6 that I haven't seen anywhere else.

On our 2002 trip, we were at a shopping centre on the outskirts of Pretoria, and phoned for a taxi. I was amazed that the cab that came was an old Opel Commodore auto, that was quite tidy and over 20 years old. The driver really liked the car and was interested in talking about it. Think I bored my companions though. We booked him for two other journeys.

Like the sound of the Chevy lump in the MK4!

Mk3 Cortina was my fave "Tina"

I've actually seen ONE 3.0 V6 Mk3 in the UK but it was an estate. My mates girlfriends dad had it (Lived in Aylesbury).

Down under they had V6 Mk3's as well. The Mk4 came with a 4.1 litre EFi (250) straight six in it.

Mk4 Cortina for sale
Although that one is normally aspirated !

lol ..Here's one that's had a turbo bolted to it as well !!

[Edit]

Last weekend was the Cortina Mk I clubs field day!

No one seems interested in the four alloy wheels that I advertised though.

I can't remember which model it was, maybe the T70, but I can remember Eric Broadley saying (with something of a twinkle in his eye) that of the 105 that they built, he was delighted to say that 107 were still on the road! (Or something like that anyway).
