Hi all,
I am having the house exterior rendered by one company and replacing all windows by another. Which job should be done first to ensure a neat finish?

Cheers :D

As above, windows and if they are PVC make sure the protective film is left on or they will be ruined if any render get on them or the plaster's floats rub against them.

Who then seals the new windows to the new render?

Window fitter [long gone]

Or external plasterer?

Who down the line will be responsible for a weather proofing problem at the mastic seal>

The mastic/silicon seal should still be done around the old reveals but be concealed by the render covering it. If there is a desire, need to redo it you just wait until the render is dry and run a bead around it.

Don't forget victorian and earlier houses survived for centuries with only mortar pointing around the frames. The mastics we use now are still relatively modern and over used.

I do the opposite,

I render using a bead around each window, then fit the window and point around the window up to the bead. Also allows a perfect sized window to be ordered as you can order once beading on. Nothing worse than a window frame buried in render. Also no damage to windows!
