Stuck euro cylinder

Hi all

I'm trying to changer the lock on my front door. I have removed the securing screw on the lock cylinder, but no ,matter how turn the key or thumb turn , it refuses to slide out of the door.

Has anyone had this problem before and found the solution ??

Just in case it makes any difference the cylinder is an ERA

After removing the screw all you need to do now is turn the key until the tab lines up vertically and the cylinder should slide out.
It often helps to take the handles off, but being a thumb turn this may not be possible with the internal handle.
Try to at least loosen the handle screws a bit though. This should help.

Definitely the right screw, my back door has the identical lock and the barrel comes pout with no bother

spray some wd40 type stuff in and around it,as they do tend to gum up with crud.then make sure as said the tab is in line,and then TAP IT VERY GENTLY hopefully it should then slide out.

If you live near the Sea, then corrosion may be the culprit ?

it not corrosion. The cylinder will move in the lock. It feels as if the cam isn't lined up, but after slowly turning a full 360 countless time, there must be another reason why it won't slide out

Silly question, was the barrel actually locking the door before? If not the pins may be engaging and key/thumbturn spinning but not engaging the cam, hence it won't release.

The lock is working fine, just want to change the lock after loosing a set of keys

Take handles off as stated above. You only need to turn the key slightly and tap a bit harder as you wiggle the key.

Yep , agree with John, take the handles off as has been suggested ( you may not get the one the side of the thumbturn off though... ) . Even with a tap , if it still doesn't come out , at least you will be able to see the barrel actually sitting in the lock , and you may be able to work out why its not coming out.
