Outside Light - Use Redundant Light switch for outside light

Our house is a David Wilson house built 9 years ago. It originally had a car port with a couple of lights on the ceiling of the car port operated by a light switch by the back door.
The first owners built a garage with bedroom over and now the garage lights are operated by switches in the garage and are on a new breaker in the CU.

Is it likely that there will still be live cabling to the redundant light switch, as I need to put an outside light in the garden? The switch is still in place and my current detector goes off in that general area. I am hoping to drill a hole through to the outside behind the light switch to get the cabling through and use cable cleats to secure cable to outside wall to get to the right height to mount the light.

Even if the wiring to switch is still live - I will still need to get a juntion box inserted to connect the the new light fitting to. I was hoping to be able to do it without using any internal cable conduit or making new holes in the plaster, taking up floorboards etc, but its not going to be that simple is it?

Sorry, not likely. More than probably you will only have Live and Switch live plus CPC(earth)

I think I understand now - I was assuming that the two wires to the switch could be treated as and Live and Neutral and insert a new jb to connect light. But the light wont actually be connected to the real neutral if I do that?

Yes, unfortunately, that's probably correct. However, you could just be lucky - as has been said, a picture of what's behind that switch might help us to tell/guess!

I'll post a pic up when I get chance to remove the switch. Its dark now, or at least it would be if I turn off lighting circuit.
