Refurb a very narrow alley

I have come up with a very interesting plan this week and i'm trying to gather some useful information on how to accomplish it.

At my place, we have a very narrow private alley which looks very old. My idea is to refurb it into a victorian era alley, so i found some pictures online and this is how i want it to look like View media item 87018
Here you can see that the floor is made by flagstones (probably victorian buff)

The walls are decorated with dark wood and the roof has an arch shape with old fashiones chandeliers.

I'm looking to find answers on some of my questions.

The first and the most importand question is that the alley is 90cm width so if i put anything on the walls like wood or bricks, they must be 2-3cm thin otherwise it will become too narrow for people to walk through. Do you have any places in mind where i can buy these materials in west sussex or order them online?

One other thing is that it is a very dark alley so i need to put some nice lights. My idea is to install some LED spotlights on the floor which will give the "old-fashioned" look a modern touch, and hang some of those chandeliers on the picture above.

My main issue at the moment is how to manage to keep almost the same width in the alley after decorating it.

Foxhole's idea isn't as far fetched as it sounds. Probably a tad over the top to go the whole hog but a decent decorator should be able to paint the studs , complete with shadows and highlights , onto the walls meaning you won't be losing any width.

Hmmm sounds like a very crazy idea but i love crazy ideas!! The only thing is that i have no street artists in my mind at the moment and im not sure where to look for. Any ideas or contacts?

I don`t know about W.Sx. - But Lewes in E .Sx is crawling with artists

Your picture looks more Tudor or Elizabethan than Victorian to me. Perhaps you will need to sort out which era you want first!

Oh sorry. Im not an expert on eras. I thought it was called victorian.

Hi guys. I had some conversation with the othere friends here and we decided to use a less expensive matterial than chalk painting or even real wood-bricks for the decorating. We made up my minds on doing the alley with wallpapers.

Festive days and ive been to some places (restaurants, public houses etc) and ive noticed that they use wallpapers with a great success. So im looking for places where i can buy quality (look like real) wallpapers to decorate. Where should i look for?
