Hi people
I have a Vokera Compact HE combi boiler, it has been in the house about 7 years and never given us a moments trouble until now.
Starting yesterday morning when we try and get hot water from any tap the boiler sounds like its firing up fine then the light goes solid green to say its fired and the water starts to warm up then bam the light goes solid red and the water goes cold. If we leave the tap running the same cycle starts again after the red light goes out it sounds like its firing up the water starts to warm a bit then red again and cold.
Once this has happened the same seems to happen to the central heating when the roomstat calls for heat.
If I move the switch to reset for a second the central heating will fire up ok and the rads all warm up but as soon as we try the hot taps the red light cycle starts again.
I'm willing to try a little diy to save some money but understand if this means calling out a professional I will.
Any advice appreciated as plumbers in this area I have spoken to in the past don't seem very confident with Vokeras for some reason?

Regards
Jamie

It's either the primary NTC sensor or possibly an issue with the fan venturi.

You need a Gas safe engineer as these components are inside the combustion chamber.

Oh really. Do you or do you not need to take the sealed door cover off to access the primary sensor?

I take it back. . For some reason I was thinking the heat ex legs with the sensors on were outside. I'll slap my own wrists

I may have assumed something here but if it fires and stays on for CH ignition isn't the problem.

If venturi or APS problem it'll run for 15 minutes trying to start the spark before red light.

Are you saying leaving the tap on after red light it tries to light itself again?

Red lockout is a volatile fault and boiler should need manual reset.

Yes leaving the tap on after the red light causes the boiler to try again and the water goes a little warm but within seconds it red lights and goes cold again.
If I dont touch the hot water tap the central heating will spark up ok but even then it takes a couple of goes and flashes a red light at me before the boiler finally stays on to heat the house.

I've tried 4 gas engineers in my region and none of them want to come its unbelievable I know tradesmen like a Christmas break but I expected at least one to offer to help
