Is it legal to fit a 40 amp shower isolator at the same height as a twin power socket, just above the skirtboard or should it be positioned at shoulder height on a landing?

There's no legality about it or a regulation. However, it is usual to fit isolator switches at a reasonable distance from the device, and in a logical place.

If an electrical shower had gone faulty, in an emergency, I wouldn't be looking at skirting board level...

I'd be satisfied with it just above the skirting board, though outside the bathroom I assume?

I've put them low down where cables have run under floor, and this way prevented damage to the wall.

As we're talking about an isolator that has a big red switch inn the middle of it, I would guess the thinking is that low down it won't be so obtrusive. But all such isolators I've seen have been noticeable whether high or low - because they've got a big red switch n the middle ....

Is this surface mount? Is it vulnerable to being kicked or knocked?

Is there any reason you cannot fit your isolator at eye level, just outside the bathroom door??
