Archbishop doesn't apologise for bombing Dresden...

Worse was the BBC coverage - complete bias.

Not unlike Paxman's view of Churchill

What a joke. What right has he got to apologise, he wasn't even born when the bombing took place ffs. What an embarrassment he is.

shouldn't have bombed coventry! they started it. Seriously though Dresden was a pretty cynical / psychological retaliation.

This is an example of why the Church is so out of touch with reality these days and is losing followers hand over fist.

In fact, it's worse than that. It is indicative of a much greater movement in this country to decry the good things that people have done in the past to make the country great.

Now, it's all about how bad we are and how do-gooders can we make the country worse!

More civilians died 13/14 February in Dresden than died in the Blitz in this Country . Plus the fact that the war was almost over, the High Command knew that

That might be true and, Dresden was a beautiful city. But should 'we' be apologising to the Germans for a war they started?

According to the research I've read

London bombing deaths = 30,000

Dresden = 25,000 dead

57 consecutive nights of bombing on London

Revenge?

Isn't that war?

Germany started its blitz on 7 Sep 1940 and it lasted for 51 consecutive nights. 40,000 civilians were killed.

The bombing of Dresden killed between 18,000 and 25,000 according to Spiegel on-line.

Who owes who an apology?

Don't get me wrong, I worked in Germany for two years and enjoyed almost every day of it. I found the Germans friendly and hard working.

It seems that we are a nation of apologists!
