I need to replace an old imperial single panel radiator. It is Roll Top design, no convector fins, and approx 53"x21"x1" The wall to pipe centre is 40mm and wall to front face of the rad is 2"

I would like to replace with another roll top design, and due to location and space restrictions I do not want it to stick out any more than the old radiator. This means max wall to front face is 2" so that rules out any convector type radiators.

Problem is almost all the radiators these days are convectors. Stelrad do a P1 type without the fins, but it's quite an ugly square box.

Any idea's? I'd prefer to buy new but open to the idea of a 2nd hand one in good condition.

Stelrad do a single panel without convector, I think it's their Elite range. It's not roll top though.

Personally I would replumb and get a rad with a convector

Edit - reread, I see you've found the Stelrad one. Agree looks horrible

Myson do a roll-top but with convector ("Premier HE" I think). They don't stick out much further at all if you go for a single panel one. Most P1 types I've seen have a bigger bracket on the back which sets them out from the wall the same amount as the single panel convectors with a smaller bracket.

Yeah I looked at the Myson Premier HE, but even their single panel convectors stick out an inch further than my current one. In fact most single panel convectors I've found stick out as much as my current double panel ones.

I know they are more efficient, problem is I just don't have the space for anything to protrude too much from the wall it's mounted on. Well I do, but you'd bash your knee on it all the time.

I don't think I have a lot of choice though, seems all you can get nowadays is convector type ones.

Edit - I can get away without having to replumb as the pipe centres are the same, so a convector, although it sticks out more would still match up to my existing valves and pipework. I would need a valve extension though as the imperial size is about 1350mm and the closest modern metric ones are 1200

Single panel Premier HE with the brackets on the closest way around will not stick out much at all. I think as you've already found you don't have much choice anyway. The Stelrad P1 sticks out as much as a K1 so there's no advantage.
