Hiya Folks

I had my pump replaced by a fly by night plumber who used the original seal/o-ring. This leaks. Not massively but it needs topping up once a week or so. Pressure drops from 1 bar to 0.5bar so needs 5-6 secs of refilling.

We are selling the house and the buyer wants the GCH servicing. Not an issue but who do we get to do the service bearing in mind the pump may need to come back off to replace the O-ring.

Glow worm fixed price repair £260 ouch
British gas service £79 but repair extra.
upto 2 hour repair £199
etc

Not tried a local bloke yet

Cheers

It is very rare that a pump seal cannot be reused.

But if you want to pay hundreds then that up to you.

But a local engineer does not have shareholders to pay so should be charging about £84 to replace the seal if required and service the boiler.

Thanks. I wasn't sure what the going rate (back of a fag packet guestimate) was.

I have a decent indy recommended to me today so will give him a shout

Maybe a little cheaper in your area.

But do ask about charges BEFORE you engage him!
