Would appreciate some insights from anyone who's used tile paint, questions are:

What is the finish like?

Does it look just like you've painted the tiles?

Is it a matt or gloss finish?

Do you slap it on - across grout and all or do you paint the individual tiles?

If I wanted to just paint some of the tiles, how would this look?

Want a quick spruce up for house sale, so don't want to retile.

Finish? Appalling - even when v. carefully applied.
Does it look like you've painted the tiles? Yup.
Is it matt or gloss? Gloss.
Do you slap it on? You can but I wouldn't recommend it.
Paint some tiles? You can, but see above.

it looks awful an looks like you are hiding nasties .. an if selling the buyer wonders what else have you hid ...urgh ...
maybe a good clean an try to regrout over old grout ..even then when estate agent shows
let them say "of course its just a lil cosmetic diy needed "(lying b*stards, lol )

You can paint tiles and get them to look pretty good. Use a gloss roller and apply tile primer to spotlessly clean tiles then apply tile paint, again with a gloss roller. Granted it doesn't look as good as new tiles, but you can transform a smallish set of bathroom tiles for little money. You paint over the grout too. What you can't get them to do is stay looking good for long. It doesn't really adhere too well and you'll be re-touching it after 6 months or so. As a quick fix, yeah sure it'll work. If you stick to white and apply it correctly then a buyer would be hard pressed to tell the difference on a quick walk round. But as mentioned, if the buyer spots that they're painted then they'd probably think twice.
When we bought out house about 8 years ago (and were skint) I painted the pink tiles in the bathroom (half white, half terracotta) and I thought it looked really smart. Stops the grout going mouldy too. Got fed up touching things up though and retiled the lot after a few years. You have to keep on top of it but you should be able to keep it looking fine for a few years.
I'd advise you to stick to white tile paint if you do it though.
If the tiles are sound, why don't you tile over the top of them?

Thanks guys, I don't think I will risk it with the tile paint. I have coloured tiles and wanted to try to neutralise a bit for the sale. I think I'll just retouch the grout and hope the buyer likes my colour choice too!!!
