What to use to fill the gap?

I have tried a strip of UPVC but it was not pliable enough. I have also enquired about bendy MDF but there is no local suppliers. Any other ideas?

Sometimes you can buy a facia panel from the tray manufacturer

I have used the upvc strip, the same stuff that I used to overboard soffits and fascia.
I found it very flexible but it required a few wooden blocks to fasten to
 
You can cut shallow slots on the rear side and bend it around a former.

As above ref a Mfr's panel.

If the tray was supplied with legs (did the legs come with it or are they base unit legs?) then there's a Mfr's panel for it. And clips.
800 x 800 (?) is a common size.

The packings under the legs dont look too clever - they appear to be possibly unsteady off-cuts of tile(?) & they are too spread out so that they may interfere with fitting a tray panel.
Perhaps setting the legs on a couple of glued down, short 2" x 4"s will work better. 2x material will also give firmer backing.

Stay away from DIY bending of materials.
 
Go to upvc supplier ,you can buy different size pieces which are used for windows etc

Cut to the correct size and fix with mitre bond ,using the proprietary activator .A nice line of silicone top and bottom,job done
 
After the ripping of PVC is bonded and siliconed in, what happens when access to the trap or waste is required?
 
We never encountered, or heard of anyone else encountering Blg Regs issues with ref to installing a shower base and enclosure.

If the installation works and doesn't leak why would a Mortgage survey raise any issues?

I have just purchased a home here in the UK 3 months ago. Seller mentioned that he had fitted a new bathroom. Hence my solicitor was all over him like a rash and hence DID cause problems for him to sell house because installation was DIY - put it this way, what if it was a bodge job resulting in the ceiling below that shower caving in as the result of a leak?
 
Replacement of an existing bathroom with new sanitary ware isn't notifiable - a new bathroom is notifiable in the sense of new WC connection and changes to foul drainage.

Sounds like a solicitor making up rules where no rules exist.
